Upon Completion of this Badge, you should be able to:

  • Students will understand what mental health is and the causes of rapid increase in mental illness today.

  • Students will understand the common myths about mental health and discover the truth in the lens of the Bible.

  • Student will discover the important role of the church and be able to remove the stigma about mental health.

  • Students will learn how to educate and train church leaders and members to handle mental health concerns of the congregation.

  • Students will learn how to develop a support system at church to effectively carry each other’s burden. They will learn when to refer to quality counseling resources and professional help.

Meet Our Instructor

Dr. Wilbert Baker has a Doctor of Ministry degree and serves as the Program Director of PACE Academy. He has several certifications in Biblical Counseling, Black Church Studies, Theology, and the Bible. Dr. Baker has been a pastor for over 30 years and serves as the Founder and pastor of Lakeland Missionary Baptist Church.

Meet Our Course Facilitator

Janine McNally is the founder and director of Grace4Kidz, and is an adjunct professor, teaching assistant and doctoral student at Grace School of Theology. She writes and creates children's curriculum and resources in her free time and has just completed her first book. Originally from Australia, she and her husband Gary have three grown children and have been married for thirty years. They have partnered together for many years of pastoral and church planting ministry and are now enjoying life in Florida.

Mental health has not traditionally been addressed in the church, while there is a rising need and concern to do so. This course would address practical strategies to create a space for addressing these concerns and ministering to those in need.
